Where to Go Kayaking in Cape Coral
Much like hiking and biking, Cape Coral has many kayak launch sites that lead to “trails” throughout the area. Paddle through serene mangrove trails or the peaceful waters of the Matlacha Pass Aquatic Preserve and Estuary and other parts of the Great Calusa Blueway, which explores the waters around Cape Coral, Pine Island, Sanibel Island, and more. Most canals are navigable by kayak, too. Other popular places are the Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve, Sirenia Vista Park, Eco Park, and many others.
Tours
Just as there are several companies that offer tours focusing on fishing or wildlife spotting, there are several companies in Cape Coral that offer the opportunity for a calm paddle on the water. Some even combine the activities: paddle out to thriving fishing spots or be guided toward some of the area’s majestic aquatic wildlife like manatees. There are eco tours that focus on the area’s unique ecosystem, sunset and sunrise tours, and even special nighttime “glow” tours that feature a clear vessel equipped with special water-safe LED lights in a variety of colors to customize your experience.
Rentals
While tours will provide you with boats and paddles, once you want to strike out on your own, you’ll need the proper equipment. Some tour companies offer rentals outside the tour, and there are a number of local rental companies that offer single-person kayaks, tandem kayaks, and even fishing kayaks for your personal excursions after the tour. Many companies will deliver and pick up at your accommodations.
